Hello!

The German Saturday School Forest Hill (DSSFH) was the first Saturday school in 'Inner South East London' and has been operating since September 2010. We are a parent initiative, founded by parents with many years of experience in organizing and running a German Saturday school.

From what age can my child attend Saturday school?

Our school year begins in September, and we accept children aged 4 years, i.e., the pupils who also enter the Reception class of their school in September.

Depending on the need, older students can also start at the beginning of the school year.

Does my child need to be able to speak German to participate in the lessons?

Lessons at the German Saturday school Forest Hill are conducted exclusively in German. Therefore, it is important that the children understand the language so that they can actively participate in the lessons and enjoy themselves.

Many German parents tell us that their children primarily respond in English, even when the German parent speaks German. This is understandable and not a problem for participation in lessons, as long as the child has been exposed to the German language daily since birth.

Can my child participate in a trial lesson?

Trial lessons are a great opportunity for children and parents to get a feel for our school. Parents are welcome to attend the trial lesson.

Is there a waiting list and when can my child start?

Our school year begins in September, coinciding with the start of the regular school year. Therefore, you should fill out a registration form in good time so that we can either offer you a place or, if necessary, put you on the waiting list. You can find the registration form here.

School fees

The cost of the lessons is £135 per term (autumn, winter, spring/summer).

The fee must be paid before the start of the first lesson to secure the student's place.

We currently do not offer any holiday packages.
