The German Saturday School Forest Hill (DSSFH) was the first Saturday school in 'Inner South East London' and has been operating since September 2010. We are a parent initiative, founded by parents with many years of experience in organizing and running a German Saturday school.
Does my child need to be able to speak German to participate in the lessons?
Lessons at the German Saturday school Forest Hill are conducted exclusively in German. Therefore, it is important that the children understand the language so that they can actively participate in the lessons and enjoy themselves.
Many German parents tell us that their children primarily respond in English, even when the German parent speaks German. This is understandable and not a problem for participation in lessons, as long as the child has been exposed to the German language daily since birth.
